Job Summary:

Starwest Botanicals, Inc. is a leading global player in the organic herb, botanical, spice, and tea industry. As a Logistics Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing the transportation and distribution of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods.

This position requires a strategic thinker who can develop and implement global logistics strategies to streamline operations and reduce costs. You will be responsible for coordinating with suppliers, carriers, and third-party logistics providers to ensure timely delivery of goods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Global Logistics Strategies: Streamline operations and reduce costs by developing and implementing effective logistics strategies.
  • Coordinate with Suppliers and Carriers: Work with suppliers, carriers, and third-party logistics providers to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Negotiate Contracts and Rates: Negotiate contracts and rates with transportation vendors to optimize pricing and service levels.
  • Monitor and Analyze Transportation Metrics: Monitor and analyze transportation metrics and performance data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including supply chain, procurement, and sales, to align logistics initiatives with business objectives.
  • Manage Customs Compliance: Manage customs compliance and import/export regulations to minimize risk and ensure compliance.
  • Develop Contingency Plans: Develop contingency plans to address disruptions in transportation networks and mitigate potential risks.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reliability in logistics operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in logistics management, with a proven track record of success.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of international transportation modes, including air, ocean, and ground. Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in logistics software and systems, such as transportation management systems (TMS) and warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Leadership Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Daily Workflow: Oversees the daily workflow of the company's largest suppliers.
  • Provide Constructive Feedback: Provides constructive and timely feedback to improve performance to various stakeholders.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged Sitting: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Lifting: Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

Travel Requirements:

  • Local Travel: Travel between company facilities within the Sacramento, CA area.
  • Training and Events: May be required to attend training and industry events as directed by supervisor.
  • Infrequent Travel: Infrequent travel to customer locations or headquarters.
