Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Podiatrist to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a Podiatrist, you will be responsible for providing quality patient care in collaboration with other health care professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide podiatric services in outpatient, urgent care, inpatient, and telehealth settings, including the diagnosis/treatment/management of podiatric medical and surgical disorders and conditions.
  • Perform podiatric procedures in the operating room and office setting.
  • Perform clinical review, triage, and management of podiatric consults.
  • Play an active role in teaching of trainees, including residents, medical students, and others, when appropriate.
  • Ensure accurate and timely medical record documentation.
  • Participate in committees, peer review process, and other administrative responsibilities as assigned by the Chief of Specialty Service, the Medical Director of Specialty Medicine/Surgery, or other designee.
Requirements
  • Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Must hold a degree as a doctor of podiatric medicine, or its equivalent, from a school of podiatric medicine approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
  • Must have completed, or currently be completing, residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Must currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice Podiatry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.
  • Must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d).
Working Conditions

This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. May be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures.

May occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders.

Must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations and able to shift priorities based on patient needs.

Must complete annual Employee Health requirements, such as annual TB screening or testing, as a condition of employment.

Must be physically, emotionally and mentally competent and able to perform efficiently the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, without hazard to yourself or others.
