Clinical Podiatrist

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a qualified Podiatrist to deliver exceptional patient care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals. This role involves providing comprehensive podiatric services across various settings, including outpatient, urgent care, inpatient, and telehealth.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct thorough assessments and manage the diagnosis, treatment, and care of podiatric medical and surgical conditions.
- Perform podiatric procedures in both operating room and clinical environments.
- Engage in clinical review, triage, and management of podiatric consultations.
- Participate actively in the education and training of medical trainees, including residents and students.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of medical records.
- Contribute to committees and administrative tasks as assigned by leadership.
Provide biomedical evaluations of lower extremities to aid in managing various pathologies, focusing on:
- Neuropathic or vascular ulcerations.
- Osteoarthritis of the bunion joint.
- Development and application of devices to alleviate weight-bearing issues on painful or ulcerated areas.
- Identification and treatment of static foot problems, ensuring effective biomechanical evaluations.
- Local care for corns, calluses, and other foot-related conditions.
- Management of painful or infected nails, particularly in patients with underlying systemic conditions.
Flexible work schedules are available, with potential requirements for rotating call coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The specific schedule will be determined by the supervisor based on organizational needs.
Qualifications:Applicants must possess a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from an accredited institution and have completed an approved residency training program. A valid and unrestricted license to practice podiatry in the United States is required. Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential.
Physical Requirements:This position demands strong visual acuity, hearing, and manual dexterity, with the ability to perform various physical tasks, including transferring patients. Candidates must be capable of working effectively in high-pressure situations and adapting to changing priorities based on patient needs.
