Job Summary

The Infection Preventionist II assists with the day-to-day supervision of the Infection Prevention department and program. This role requires significant prior experience in infection prevention/control and a related field, such as nursing, microbiology, or epidemiology.

The successful candidate will demonstrate competence in CDC NHSN Hospital-acquired infection surveillance and reporting requirements. They will collect, analyze, and report data on infections, serving as a knowledgeable source of TJC, OSHA, and CDC recommendations for infection prevention.

This role involves providing routine education and orientation to associates regarding infection prevention topics, as well as consulting on infection control matters. The Infection Preventionist II will inspect inpatient areas, outpatient offices, clinics, and facilities associated with Cooper to ensure regulatory standards in infection prevention and employee safety.

They will work closely with the Director/Hospital Epidemiologist/Infection Prevention Committee to develop infection prevention activities and investigate clusters, outbreaks, and increased rates of infections. The successful candidate will also communicate potential exposures to communicable diseases and report designated diseases/data to NJDOH or other State agencies as required.

Requirements
  • 2 years of experience in an acute care hospital
  • 1 year of experience in Infection Prevention
  • BSN (RN), Medical Technologist (ASCP), or Bachelor's in a healthcare-related field
  • Certified in Infection Prevention & Control (CIC) required
