Job Summary

The Infection Prevention Practitioner plays a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of patients, staff, and visitors at Virtua Health. This position is responsible for developing and implementing effective infection control programs, collaborating with healthcare teams to prevent and control the spread of infections, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage the local Infection Control Program in cooperation with the System Infection Control Committee.
  • Conduct annual risk assessments and gap analyses to identify areas for improvement and prioritize infection control initiatives.
  • Collaborate with local management and leadership teams to ensure systematic implementation of policies, procedures, and improvement initiatives.
  • Provide educational programs to inform and instruct hospital leaders, physicians, and staff in safe patient care practices.
  • Act as a liaison between the local Virtua campus and County Departments of Health, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in system meetings of the Infection Control Committee and represent Virtua in local and regional emergency planning activities.
Requirements
  • At least 2 years of experience in Infection Prevention preferred.
  • Current membership in APIC (Association of Professionals in IC) preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability in infection prevention concepts and practices.
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
  • Current NJ RN license or Medical Technologist educated in Infection Prevention.
  • CIC preferred.
