Overview: The Support Specialist plays a vital role in advancing the Mission, Values, and Objectives of COF Training Services, Inc. This position involves delivering essential services and assistance to individuals across various environments by fulfilling the following responsibilities.

Qualifications: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Successful candidates will demonstrate a high level of patience, empathy, and professionalism while interacting with individuals with intellectual and developmental challenges. Clear communication skills are essential, including proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking. Familiarity with word processing and email applications is required, along with a willingness to learn additional software as needed. Flexibility in scheduling, including the ability to work varied shifts, is necessary. A valid driver's license and proof of current liability insurance are required for those qualified to operate large passenger vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in overseeing individuals receiving services in vocational and residential environments.
  • Provide tailored support to individuals in accordance with their Person-Centered Plans (PCP), Risk Assessments (RA), Individual Justice Plans (IJP), Work Assessments (WA), Consumer Medical Emergency Information (CMEI), and Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP).
  • Maintain alertness and attentiveness throughout assigned shifts.
  • Facilitate training for individuals in work-related skills and behaviors, offering assistance with daily living activities, including personal hygiene and toileting as needed.
  • Accurately document the support provided using agency-specific data collection forms, including support logs and incident reports, ensuring all documentation is completed by the end of the shift.
  • Submit incident reports and trend tracking reports as necessary.
  • Provide transportation services as required.
  • Perform housekeeping duties or assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment in both day and residential settings, as well as any agency-owned vehicles.
  • Administer medication to individuals as required, following training protocols.
  • Complete mandatory training within specified timeframes, adhering to all agency policies and procedures, including HIPAA and confidentiality regulations.
  • Work at various COF Training Services, Inc. locations as assigned, utilizing company resources efficiently, including time management and staffing hours.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Physical Requirements: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. While performing the duties of this position, employees are regularly required to use their hands and fingers, reach with arms, and communicate effectively. Frequent standing, walking, sitting, climbing, and balancing are required, along with occasional lifting or moving of at least 50 pounds. Employees may also be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
