Position Title: Anesthesia Support Specialist

Position Overview:

Under the supervision of the Anesthesia Services Manager, the Anesthesia Support Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care within the surgical environment.

This position involves assisting anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and operating room personnel in various patient care activities as directed by the attending medical staff.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct procedures, document, analyze, and interpret various physiological monitoring functions using a range of medical devices and techniques.
  • Support inventory management processes to ensure optimal supply levels and cost-effective practices.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating and troubleshooting invasive monitoring devices, including:
    • Arterial line setups
    • PA catheter setups
    • Cardiac output monitoring
    • ECG attachments and troubleshooting
    • Point-of-care testing
    • Autologous blood recovery systems
    • Directional Doppler and other relevant equipment
  • Maintain a comprehensive procedural database.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols to ensure the cleanliness and proper use of non-disposable equipment, including timely changes of indwelling catheters and lines.
  • Exhibit the professional, clinical, and technical competencies required for the assigned department.

Qualifications:

Required Education: High School Diploma

Preferred Education: Associate of Science Degree

Experience: A minimum of one year in an Anesthesia Technician role or in patient-facing clinical positions within perioperative or procedural settings.

Licensure and Certification: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
