Role Summary

An Automotive Service Consultant is responsible for providing customers with detailed cost assessments for vehicle repairs and routine maintenance. By engaging effectively with clients, they identify necessary services, estimate completion times, and maintain ongoing communication throughout the repair process. This position involves analyzing information from technicians and referencing manufacturer service intervals to determine required services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses automotive issues by attentively listening to customer descriptions, clarifying details, conducting inspections, and reviewing maintenance records.
  • Confirms warranty and service contract coverage by examining documentation and explaining terms.
  • Generates cost estimates by calculating materials, supplies, and labor, including customer payment details.
  • Prepares repair orders by documenting symptoms, issues, and necessary repairs, obtaining necessary approvals, and entering information into the service database.
  • Maintains customer relationships by clearly explaining estimates and expected vehicle return times, answering inquiries, and coordinating transportation solutions.
  • Records automotive history by documenting problems and planned corrective actions.
  • Enhances professional knowledge by participating in training and reviewing manufacturer publications.
  • Improves organizational reputation by taking ownership of new tasks and seeking opportunities to add value.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Service Consultant is required.
  • Exceptional attention to detail is essential.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret business reports.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for professional interactions.
  • Basic mathematical skills are necessary.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience or training is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are mandatory.
  • Familiarity with DealerTrack and X-time is advantageous.
  • Experience with Ford vehicles is preferred.
