Job Overview

The City of Delray Beach is seeking a dedicated professional to fulfill the role of GIS Addressing Coordinator. This position is essential for delivering exceptional customer service and providing technical and administrative support for the City's Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The coordinator will primarily assist with new developments and collaborate with various city departments, as well as external agencies, to ensure accurate address assignment and verification.

Key Responsibilities

The following duties are typical for this role. The omission of specific tasks does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar or related. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
  • Maintain and update the primary street address database within the enterprise GIS system, including the assignment of new addresses for developments and utility locations;
  • Revise addresses in supporting systems to align with technological advancements;
  • Evaluate proposed street names and addresses for compliance with the City’s Addressing and Street Naming Manual;
  • Facilitate city-wide address coordination with external entities, including the US Postal Service and adjacent jurisdictions;
  • Integrate GIS address modifications with emergency preparedness and public safety initiatives;
  • Keep a comprehensive record of all new street names and addresses assigned within the County, ensuring coordination with the E-911 Systems Coordinator;
  • Engage with the public to issue addresses and address inquiries, preparing notification letters for new or altered addresses;
  • Conduct field research to resolve addressing conflicts and verify data accuracy;
  • Collaborate with the GIS Manager and other GIS professionals on various projects;
  • Monitor data management and develop enhancements for database structures and data collection methodologies;
  • Generate maps, analyses, and reports as requested, developing strategies for thematic or queried analysis;
  • Promote positive employee relations across the organization;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Geography, Cartography, Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • At least two (2) years of advanced experience with Geographic Information Systems.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in municipal addressing, including the ability to read and interpret maps and technical data.
  • Proficiency with Esri ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, and experience in an enterprise GIS environment.
  • Valid State of Florida Driver's License with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

Certification in GIS is advantageous. Familiarity with AS400, Navaline, and Central Square is beneficial but not mandatory. Experience with graphic software such as Adobe Illustrator for enhancing GIS map quality is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in relevant software applications and possess strong analytical skills.

Work Environment

The physical demands of this role require frequent sitting, talking, and using hands to operate tools and controls. Occasional walking and standing are necessary, and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs may be required.
