Job Summary

USA Health is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Research Registered Nurse to join our team. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for coordinating and implementing clinical research protocols, ensuring efficient workflow and providing high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the planning, development, and implementation of clinical research protocols in accordance with research parameters set by the principal investigator.
  • Oversee the planning, scheduling, and implementation of day-to-day clinical activities and procedures, ensuring efficient workflow and adequate care and treatment of research subjects.
  • Plan and carry out programs for the recruitment, screening, enrollment, and retention of clinical research subjects and/or volunteers.
  • Instruct subjects on treatment methods and protocols.
  • Establish appropriate data collection systems and procedures, according to pre-established research protocols.
  • Provide highly skilled nursing care and supervise and/or perform research-related procedures.
  • Conduct advanced patient evaluations on patients participating in research studies and provide preliminary patient diagnoses.
  • Assist physicians in the management of outpatients in the clinic.
  • Assist in obtaining pre and post labs for treatment and evaluation of patients.
  • Interpret test results.
  • Develop and direct educational programs for patients and healthcare providers regarding illness, therapy, and home care on an outpatient basis.
  • Maintain familiarity with current methods of treating patients by both state-of-the-art investigational means.
  • Interact with research sponsors and other agencies in the procurement of medications for research patients.
  • Interact with pharmaceutical companies and other agencies in the procurement of medications for indigent patients.
  • Interact with physicians, patients, and staff in a professional manner.
  • Maintain inventories of research drugs and supplies.
  • Coordinate patient care activities and assist physicians with patient assessment when needed.
  • Dispense medications and administer medications according to research protocol.
  • Perform various routine tests.
  • Maintain accurate patient records for patients on research studies.
  • Talk to patients as needed.
  • Review incoming lab reports and other diagnostic reports and advise physicians of any abnormalities as needed.
  • Schedule appointments for patients with other physicians and departments, as requested by physicians.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and a current Alabama RN license or current Multi-State RN License in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) for Alabama.
  • Two years of professional nursing experience.
  • Licensure with the state of Alabama as a registered nurse.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS, Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) or Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) through Society of Clinical Research Associates certification are preferred.
  • BSN and prior research experience are highly preferred.
