As a State Agency Psychological Consultant, you will play a critical role in making accurate and timely mental and/or physical disability determinations on Social Security disability claims. This position requires a licensed physician with expertise in evaluating physical and mental impairments as prescribed by Social Security.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform advanced disability determination medical case reviews to ensure accurate and timely determinations.
• Evaluate physical and mental impairments, considering SSA regulations and policies.
• Communicate effectively with medical professionals, claimants, and the general public.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, co-workers, and the medical community.
• Participate in training and staff development for new and current adjudicative staff.
Requirements:
• Licensed physician (medical doctor) in the State of Texas.
• Expertise in evaluating physical and mental impairments as prescribed by Social Security.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
• Familiarity with SSA medical regulations, policies, and procedures.
Working Conditions:
This position occasionally requires work during weekends, holidays, and before or after normal business hours. DDS employees perform all business functions for the Social Security Administration using the federal SSA network and equipment. Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD)-12 security clearance is required.
