Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our K-12 Social Studies and Ethnic Studies programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and implementing curriculum design, delivery, and assessment, as well as developing and delivering professional development services to content teachers and school staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the implementation of the MN K-12 Social Studies and Ethnic Studies standards and tiered instruction, ensuring equitable access to instructional materials.
  • Develop and implement practices and strategies to reduce/eliminate racial disparities in student outcomes and course enrollments.
  • Lead the development and adoption of instructional materials that support standards-based teaching and learning and content integration.
  • Develop and monitor accountability benchmarks and assess individual and team performance against those benchmarks.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver professional development services to content teachers, principals, and other school and district staff.
  • Increase parent and community awareness of Social Studies and Ethnic Studies programs and achievement levels of students, and gain support for the District's initiatives.
  • Develop and monitor Social Studies and Ethnic Studies budget.
  • Support the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) model of differentiated instruction and tiered intervention processes.
  • Lead teams in developing, vetting, and revising integrated units of study and interim, formative, and summative assessments.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in education or related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience in effective instruction teaching a wide range of students from diverse backgrounds in an urban setting.
  • Knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, and regulations covering specific areas of assignment.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of public sector administrative management, including finance, budgeting, purchasing, contract and grant management, customer service, and employee supervision.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction for a diverse group of learners and plan impactful professional development experiences for teachers.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and creatively with teams.
  • Strong facilitation and leadership skills; strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Valid Minnesota Teaching License in Social Studies.
  • Valid Minnesota State Driver's License.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in a standard office environment which requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes or heavier materials (up to 50 pounds) with help from others and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently.

May be required to work extended hours for several consecutive days and travel between building sites.
