CNC Machinist

We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist to join our team at Horst Engineering & Manufacturing Co. as a CNC Lathe Machinist. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC Turning, Multi-Axis lathes, and other Turning equipment to produce high-precision component parts that meet all quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Setup and Operation: Set up and operate CNC Lathes (2-axis and multi-axis) (e.g. Eurotech, Hardinge, etc.) to produce high-precision component parts.
- Blueprint and Instruction Interpretation: Work with blueprints, operation sheets, and other work instructions to ensure accurate setup and operation of equipment.
- Machining Operations: Set up and complete machining operations to produce high-quality parts, working from blueprints, operation sheets, travelers, or other specifications.
- Material Selection and Handling: Check material specifications and obtain bar stock or material from staging areas as needed.
- Complex Setup and Troubleshooting: Perform complex set-ups of own work or for others, making adjustments to machinery as needed and obtaining tooling, gages, inserts, and other equipment required.
- Collaboration and Training: Assist other Operators or Set-up/Operators with setup or production problems and help train other set-up/operators.
- Quality Control: Ensure all manufactured parts meet quality standards, performing visual inspections and dimensional verification using measuring instruments.
- Maintenance and Housekeeping: Perform routine maintenance on equipment, maintain fluid levels, and keep the equipment and work area clean and organized.
- Documentation and Communication: Verify and record part count, document scrap, and notify lead person or supervisor of any parts shortages or machining problems.
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent; technical school training a plus.
- Experience: 3 years of set-up experience minimum required; experience with aerospace products and/or other close tolerance parts a plus.
- Skills: Familiarity with Fanuc and/or Okuma Controls, ability to set and change tools, use standard gauges and inspection techniques, and read CNC programs.
- Physical Demands: Ability to push/pull/carry up to 50 lbs and stand for up to 8+ hours.
