Job Overview

Core Responsibilities

The CNC Milling Machinist III plays a crucial role in the operation of diverse computer numeric controlled (CNC) machinery, tasked with transforming forgings or raw materials to meet precise customer specifications. This position operates during the first shift, adhering to a Monday through Friday schedule.

Key Duties

  • Independently manage machining tasks without supervision.
  • Adhere to established quality control and safety protocols.
  • Interpret and execute work instructions, setup sheets, and inspection documents provided by supervisory staff.
  • Read and understand dimensional blueprints and manufacturing guidelines to perform necessary machining tasks.
  • Conduct complete machine setups autonomously.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on innovative projects.
  • Mentor and support junior CNC Machinists (Levels I and II).
  • Operate various CNC machines to process forgings crafted from metals such as stainless steel, aluminum, Inconel, and titanium, ensuring tight tolerances of +/- .001.
  • Manually or mechanically load and unload materials; apply coolant and replace worn tools as necessary.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments to verify machined dimensions and surface finishes against customer specifications.
  • Handle materials with care throughout the machining process.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in CNC machining.
  • Experience in the aerospace sector is mandatory.
  • Proficiency with large components, milling operations, and Okuma controls is essential.

Desirable Skills

  • Capability to operate multiple machines simultaneously.
  • Turning experience is advantageous alongside required milling expertise.

Competencies

  • Strong understanding of machining fundamentals, GD&T, and blueprint interpretation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Robust analytical skills for problem-solving and implementing effective solutions.
  • Proficient in using hand tools and measuring devices to ensure accurate setups and machining operations.
