Job Overview

Primary Objective:

The CNC Milling Machinist III is tasked with the operation of various sizes and types of computer numeric controlled (CNC) production machinery. This role involves machining forgings or stock to meet precise customer specifications using a diverse range of cutting tools. This position operates on a standard first shift schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate independently with minimal supervision.
  • Adhere to established quality and safety protocols.
  • Interpret work instructions, operation sheets, and setup documents provided by supervisory staff.
  • Read and understand dimensional drawings and manufacturing instructions to execute machining tasks accurately.
  • Perform complete machine setups autonomously.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on project development.
  • Provide training and support to junior CNC Machinists.
  • Utilize various CNC machines to process forgings made from metals such as stainless steel, aluminum, and titanium, ensuring close tolerances are maintained.
  • Manually or mechanically load and unload workpieces; apply coolant and replace worn tools as necessary.
  • Employ precision measuring instruments to verify machined dimensions and surface finishes against specifications.
  • Handle materials with care throughout the machining process.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in CNC machining.
  • Experience in the aerospace sector is essential.
  • Proficiency with large parts and Okuma controls is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to operate multiple machines simultaneously.
  • Experience in turning operations is advantageous.

Skills:

  • Solid understanding of machining principles, GD&T, and blueprint interpretation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Analytical skills to effectively resolve complex issues and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Competence in using hand tools and measuring devices for accurate setups and machining tasks.
