West Virginia University Health Science Center is seeking applications for a (Hybrid) University Pharmacy Recruitment Coordinator within the School of Pharmacy.

About the Role

This position will report to the Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs and will be pivotal in driving the overall student recruitment and enrollment initiatives for the School of Pharmacy. The coordinator will manage recruitment strategies for pre-pharmacy, Direct Admit Program, PharmD, and select Graduate programs, including data analysis and evaluation related to these initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Recruitment:

  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives for attracting students to the PharmD program.
  • Organize and facilitate on-campus and off-campus visits for prospective students, engaging faculty, staff, and current students in recruitment activities, including open houses and statewide events.
  • Collaborate with regional educational recruiters to connect with potential PharmD candidates.
  • Conduct personalized campus visits for prospective students.
  • Identify effective venues for promoting and recruiting prospective students.
  • Engage in significant travel (approximately 35% of the time) within the state and region to meet with prospective PharmD candidates.
  • Assist prospective students with the application process and refer them to relevant academic and student service support units.
  • Monitor applicant progress and communicate updates to the Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs.
  • Utilize social media, in collaboration with the Director of Marketing & Communications, to engage prospective students and maintain communication prior to enrollment.
  • Participate in the on-campus interview process to enhance recruitment efforts.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Admissions and Student Affairs team.
  • Support Career Services with pharmacy career fairs and receptions.
  • Manage the recruitment budget to optimize recruitment efforts.
  • Work with the Pharmacy Director of Development and the Coordinator of the Pharmacy Alumni Association to engage alumni in recruitment activities.
  • Coordinate outreach events with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Engage in Graduate Admissions Committee activities and events.
  • Oversee the Student Ambassador program.
  • Organize recruitment efforts for graduate programs within the School of Pharmacy, including marketing materials and communications.
  • Collaborate with staff and the admissions committee to enhance student matriculation post-acceptance.
  • Assist with recruitment events for other WVU Health Sciences Schools as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs.

Marketing and Outreach:

  • Identify high schools and colleges in the region with significant numbers of prospective students interested in pre-health careers, particularly pharmacy.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify potential recruitment opportunities and develop strategies for entering new markets.
  • Work with the HSC Director of Diversity to create marketing strategies aimed at increasing the enrollment of underrepresented minorities in the PharmD program.
  • Design and produce recruitment materials in collaboration with the Director of Marketing & Communications.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of social media campaigns in collaboration with the Director of Marketing & Communications.
  • Organize focus groups with pre-pharmacy and pharmacy students to inform recruitment strategies.
  • Analyze data to identify trends among students who enroll.
  • Gather feedback from admitted students who choose not to enroll and report findings to the Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs.

Research, Assessment, and Administrative Duties:

  • Develop assessment tools to evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment activities and recommend improvements.
  • Monitor national admission trends and assist in identifying best practices.
  • Implement and analyze surveys to gather information on applicant trends.
  • Participate in university and school committees related to student recruitment and admissions.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance relevant skills.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, marketing, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in corporate sales, college admissions, recruitment, or marketing.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding admission records.
  • Compliance with state, federal, and university regulations.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Creative and analytical thinking skills to develop effective recruitment strategies.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience in promoting and persuading effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in data mining applications.
  • Experience with social media for connecting prospective and admitted students to the School.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently, meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Capability to estimate recruitment costs, including travel and promotional materials.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license, as travel is required.
