Title: Youth Engagement Coordinator

Reports to: Unit Director

Status: Part Time

Primary Role: The Youth Engagement Coordinator at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern North Carolina is instrumental in orchestrating and executing programs tailored for adolescents. This role encompasses the organization of activities, provision of mentorship, and the maintenance of a secure and stimulating environment for youth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement specialized programs for teens, maintaining comprehensive records of participant involvement.
  • Design and execute a variety of programs, ranging from educational workshops to recreational activities.
  • Ensure effective management of the program area while fostering enthusiasm among teen participants.
  • Recruit and engage youth, promoting participation and creating an inviting atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with fellow staff and community partners to enhance program offerings.
  • Act as a liaison with teen parent advisory groups and participate in parent meetings.
  • Uphold safety protocols, ensuring compliance with regulations and implementing emergency procedures.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Maintain close communication with club staff (both professional and volunteer) and Administrative Office Staff to exchange information, address issues, and provide guidance.

External: Cultivate relationships with community groups, agencies, schools, and others to network, collaborate, and assist in problem resolution.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The physical requirements outlined here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively. This role is primarily sedentary but may involve standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. No personal protective equipment is required. Travel to various club sites and some outdoor activities may be necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age; a high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization, with a focus on planning and supervising activities, is required. The candidate must possess the ability to operate a personal vehicle.
  • Willingness to work evenings and travel for training and events while maintaining strict confidentiality is essential.

PROGRAM FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure compliance with all organizational safety standards across all clubs.
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with all staff members, parents, and community stakeholders.
  • Assist in managing program flow and maintaining the organization and cleanliness of facilities. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:

  • Prepare and maintain program statistics and related reports.
  • Report any injuries involving members, volunteers, or staff to the Directors immediately.
  • Other duties may be assigned by the Operations Director.
