Position Overview:

As a member of Project MARS/AmeriCorps, you will take on the role of a School Engagement Coordinator in the vibrant region of Western North Carolina.

The primary objective of this initiative is to support children while simultaneously offering valuable professional development opportunities for our members.

Members will be integrated into educational institutions to provide direct assistance to students. Our AmeriCorps members play a crucial role in alleviating some of the adverse effects associated with economic hardship.

Key Responsibilities:
Project MARS Members will engage with students on a daily basis within the school environment, offering mentorship, academic support, and essential resources for their success. This engagement will occur throughout the school day as well as during after-school programs. Members will work collaboratively with educators, staff, and administration to identify students who would benefit most from mentorship and additional services, while also recruiting community volunteers to enhance these efforts. Through this experience, Project MARS/AmeriCorps members will acquire skills that are highly regarded by future employers, supported by comprehensive training, supervision, and guidance provided by our experienced professional staff.

Program Advantages:
Members will receive a stipend, health coverage, an educational award upon successful completion of their service, training opportunities, and childcare assistance if eligible.

Service Conditions:

This role allows for employment at another job during off hours and permits attendance at educational institutions during off hours. A vehicle is recommended for this position.
