**Key Responsibilities:**
- Facilitates daily production briefings and menu workshops to enhance staff comprehension of food preparation protocols for upcoming service periods.
- Ensures all kitchen personnel are well-acquainted with recipes prior to meal preparation.
- Provides training to staff on techniques for creating appealing and nutritious meals for residents with specialized dietary needs.
- Prepares a variety of hot and cold dishes for residents, guests, and staff in accordance with daily menus and production specifications.
- Handles food preparation for residents with dietary modifications.
- Oversees the safe transportation of food from production areas to dining spaces, following safe food handling practices.
- Guides servers on the correct handling, storage, portioning, plating, and serving of food items.
- Responsible for the proper labeling and storage of bulk food and supply deliveries.
- Conducts monthly inventory assessments of food and supplies.
- Maintains a clean and organized work environment throughout the shift and performs necessary closing and cleaning tasks as assigned.
- Leads in-service training sessions to keep staff updated on nutrition, dietary needs, safe food handling, culinary skills, and equipment operation.
- Participates in training courses and other professional development opportunities as required.
- Reports any suspicions or evidence of elder abuse or neglect in accordance with company policies.
**Skills and Qualifications:**
- Exceptional verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficient in operating kitchen equipment and utilizing utensils efficiently.
- Ability to follow dietary instructions and menus, understand food preparation methods, and be knowledgeable about seasoning.
- Must communicate effectively with individuals of all ages while maintaining a positive and energetic demeanor.
- Proficient in English, with the ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
- A minimum of one year of experience in a similar role, preferably in a retirement community or home-care setting.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, evenings, rotating shifts, and occasional overtime.
- A high school diploma is strongly preferred.
- Certification in safe food handling is required.
- Must be in good health, capable of performing assigned tasks, and pass a health screening.
- Must demonstrate freedom from pulmonary tuberculosis through a health screening.
- Must undergo a criminal background check prior to employment.
- Must be fully vaccinated and boosted before starting work.
**Physical and Mental Requirements:**
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift/carry objects over 25 pounds.
- Requires bending, twisting, and reaching in various directions.
- The kitchen environment may be noisy and distracting, necessitating the ability to concentrate and manage multiple tasks.
- High safety awareness is essential due to potential physical risks associated with kitchen work.
