Overview:
Deliver exceptional speech therapy assessment, intervention, and documentation for all rehabilitation clients. Collaborate effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team while demonstrating outstanding customer service.

Supervision:
Reports to Rehabilitation Clinical and Administrative Supervisors

Supervised Positions:
Speech Therapist - CFY, Rehabilitation Aides

Work Schedule:
Per Diem

RESPONSIBILITIES

Core Duties:

  • Administer speech therapy services in a professional manner adhering to established practices.
  • Conduct evaluations, assessments, and treatments related to impairments resulting from injury, surgery, or acute/chronic illnesses.
  • Educate other healthcare professionals and family members on strategies and specific techniques to support patients in achieving optimal function and safety.
  • Demonstrate timely, efficient, and satisfactory completion of tasks and documentation with minimal assistance.
  • Maintain a high degree of flexibility in scheduling to meet departmental requirements.
  • Accurately document daily billable treatment times in accordance with departmental protocols.
  • Engage in departmental and facility training sessions.
  • Participate in professional development and quality enhancement initiatives.
  • Achieve successful completion of Core Competencies.
  • Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential Qualifications:

Education:
Master's degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited institution

Experience: 1 year of experience in a long-term or acute care environment

Licensure:
Valid CT license; certification from the national board of certification in Speech Therapy; valid driver's license

Skills and Competencies:


The speech-language therapist adheres to the policies and procedures of the Therapy department and Mozaic Senior Life; maintains current knowledge of practices and skills in the field of Speech-language Pathology.

Understands and implements instructions for equipment and procedures prescribed for Speech Therapy. Communicates effectively with physicians, colleagues, and families while upholding high ethical standards.

Must be capable of relating to and working with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally distressed, and at times challenging residents within the facility.
