Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Substitute Educator to join our team. As a Substitute Educator, you will be responsible for providing instruction and supervision to students in the absence of the regular teacher. Your primary goal will be to ensure a smooth transition and maintain the academic momentum of the students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction and supervision to students in the absence of the regular teacher.
  • Follow the regular classroom teacher's lesson plan(s) and facilitate learning.
  • Assume responsibility for overseeing student behavior in the classroom, during lunch, activity periods, and out-of-class settings.
  • Conduct assigned classes at the scheduled times.
  • Interact professionally with students, parents, and school personnel.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all student information.
  • Work cooperatively with all school personnel and parents.
  • Take precautions to protect records, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Dress in a manner consistent with school policies.
  • Enforce policies and procedures concerning student conduct and discipline.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and appropriate records and files.
  • Model correct use of the English language both verbally and written.
  • Assign reasonable tasks and homework to students as directed.
  • Follow school discipline procedures.
  • Provide a brief report in writing on the day's activities at the conclusion of each day for the teacher.
  • Perform any other duties requested by administration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree is required. Master's degree and/or Montessori training are preferred.
  • Prefer one year classroom teaching/substitute experience or working with children.
  • Must use acceptable English in written and oral communication. Speaks with clear articulation.
  • Must complete substitute orientation facilitated by Shelton.
  • Experience and knowledge educating children with learning differences is preferred.
  • Must have basic computer skills and technology including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
