Position Overview

The Aviation Simulator Instructor is responsible for delivering outstanding ground and simulator flight training in alignment with aviation regulations and FlightSafety's educational standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate pilot ground and simulator training for clients engaged in core, specialty, or enrichment training programs.
  • Create and organize training materials that effectively support the delivery of training tailored to client requirements in accordance with the relevant curriculum.
  • Assess and monitor trainee progress, providing recommendations for qualification or additional training as necessary.
  • Maintain precise training records for each client, contributing to their success in achieving specified objectives.
  • Identify and address client training challenges, seeking assistance prior to implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements to maintain Instructor qualifications.
Required Qualifications
  • This role specifically pertains to rotorcraft; prior rotorcraft experience is essential.
  • Willingness to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
  • An unrestricted ATP certificate or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License is required.
  • If ATP is not held, candidates must meet the criteria outlined in:
  • 14 CFR part 61.153
  • 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
  • A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating is necessary.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience with FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training.
  • Preferred: A total flight time of 2,500 hours.
Skills and Competencies
  • Comprehensive knowledge of aviation safety standards and practices.
  • Familiarity with common aviation regulations.
  • Ability to effectively manage classes and deliver instruction.
  • Basic facilitation and customer service skills.
  • Willingness to be coachable and receptive to feedback for personal development.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment

In performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to use hands for manipulation of objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and communicate verbally. The role may require standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Physical capabilities must include the ability to reach, apply pressure, and manipulate controls with both feet. The employee must navigate within the Simulator device from the Instructor's chair and move between the Instructor station, screen, and podium while instructing in a classroom setting. The employee may need to exit from a malfunctioning Simulator under challenging conditions. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

While executing job responsibilities, the employee often works near moving mechanical components and may be exposed to various environmental conditions.
