About the Role

Talis Group, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Billing Specialist to join our team. As a Billing Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the daily operations of our accounting team in Louisville. Your primary responsibility will be to prepare and process billing invoices from pre-stage to final invoicing for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Billing Process Management: Collaborate with attorneys, legal assistants, and other team members to generate prebills, monitor unbilled time, and ensure timely billing and collections.
  • Prebill Editing: Make necessary edits to prebills per partner instructions, including time descriptions, transfers, and write-downs/off of unbilled time/costs in accordance with firm policies.
  • Client Account Management: Proactively follow-up with Billing Partners and others to resolve client billing issues and ensure invoices are approved and billed.
  • Account Reconciliation: Reconcile and maintain client accounts and accrual schedules.
  • Prebill Review: Review prebills and follow-up with attorneys to ensure that entries are posted correctly.
  • Billing System Utilization: Edit and translate prebills into bills using the 3E system.
  • Provide general support to the accounting department as needed.
Requirements
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a law firm or professional organization.
  • Proficiency in Elite Enterprise Accounting software, 3E, or ADERANT is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required (formatting, pivot tables, and basic formulas).
  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks with high attention to detail.
  • Maintain professionalism and strict confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
