The Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of License and Permit Specialist I. This position will be responsible for performing administrative support and licensing processing work related to the certifying, licensing, permitting, and registration of individuals and businesses in various programs.
Key Responsibilities- Receive, review, and process initial and renewal applications for various programs, including Asbestos, Lead, Abusable Volatile Chemicals, Hazardous Products Registration, Tattoo and Body Piercing, and Youth Camps.
- Request and verify supporting documentation, such as certificates of insurance, training certificates, and verifiable lists of experience.
- Input applicant demographics, apply remits, validate supporting documentation, and approve applications using VERSA.
- Communicate verbally and in written format with applicants, licensees, other government agencies, and the public.
- Provide customer service and help desk functions, including interpreting and explaining license requirements and developing and sending correspondence to applicants.
- Document applicant communication activity in the department's database and follow established policies for applications that do not meet approval standards.
- Ensure confidentiality of information based on department policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, and Adobe Pro.
- Knowledge of database systems.
- Ability to provide customer service.
- Ability to follow policies and procedures.
This position is eligible to telework on a part-time basis (up to 3 days per week). The selected candidate must have the ability to provide a reliable internet service in a home office location free from distractions that will provide the ability to ensure confidentiality of work product.
