About The Duck Inn: This establishment is a Neighborhood Gastro-Tavern & Dining Room located along the Chicago River. It is housed in a historic pre-prohibition tavern and features the acclaimed New American cuisine crafted by Michelin Rated Partner/Chef Kevin Hickey. Our extensive beverage offerings include craft beers, innovative wine service, and modern cocktails curated by Beverage Director/Partner Brandon Phillips, all designed to complement our culinary selections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a positive, courteous demeanor and uphold a professional appearance.
  • Encourage teamwork and foster a positive work environment among staff.
  • Be actively present on the floor during service to ensure quality and guest satisfaction.
  • Prioritize exceptional hospitality by personally welcoming guests and checking in on their experience.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating teamwork and composure under pressure.
  • Establish clear expectations for staff and enforce service standards and policies.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of all Front of House roles and responsibilities, stepping in to assist as necessary.
  • Exhibit high attention to detail in all aspects of operations.
  • Stay informed about all food and beverage offerings on the menu and provide training to staff accordingly.
  • Update training materials and guides for Front of House staff as needed.
  • Facilitate and participate in training sessions related to food, beverage, and service.
  • Supervise staff before, during, and after service to ensure service quality and cleanliness.
  • Perform opening and closing duties as required.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager, Owners, and Chef on administrative tasks.
  • Address guest concerns in a friendly manner, ensuring follow-up when necessary.
  • Develop efficient service systems to enhance staff performance and adapt to guest needs.
  • Assist the General Manager in recruiting and hiring new Front of House staff.
  • Support the General Manager in managing costs, increasing sales, and achieving financial objectives.
  • Work closely with the Beverage Director and Head Bartender to develop and maintain the beverage program.
  • Oversee all aspects of bar operations, including inventory management and customer service.
  • Conduct monthly inventories of beverage and bar supplies.
  • Resolve customer inquiries and feedback promptly and professionally.
  • Gain proficiency in third-party programs for daily operations and special events.
  • Assist in organizing and executing special events and celebrations.
  • Ensure that all staff maintain cleanliness and organization within the restaurant.
  • Create weekly Front of House schedules at least two weeks in advance, manage time-off requests, and ensure adequate staffing.
