POSITION TITLE: Human Resources Specialist
LOCATION: Fort Worth, Texas
SUMMARY: Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas (LANWT) is in search of a dedicated Human Resources Specialist to undertake a variety of administrative tasks and provide support across multiple human resources functions.
ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND: LANWT is a non-profit legal service provider committed to delivering high-quality civil legal assistance to low-income individuals across numerous counties in North and West Texas. The organization employs a diverse workforce, including both unionized and non-unionized staff, and operates in a dynamic and challenging environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Human Resources Specialist will be an integral part of the Human Resources Team, contributing to initiatives in recruitment, performance management, employee relations, benefits administration, payroll processing, training, and employee wellness programs. Specific duties include:
- Facilitating onboarding and off-boarding processes by managing job requisitions, coordinating job postings, and ensuring adherence to documented procedures.
- Handling candidate communications, including offer letters and interview scheduling, and conducting pre-employment verifications.
- Assisting with the preparation and processing of new hire documentation and scheduling orientation sessions.
- Coordinating employee benefits programs, including communication materials and vendor interactions.
- Processing payroll bi-weekly, ensuring accuracy in timecard submissions and employee data management.
- Maintaining compliance with I-9 regulations and managing employee personnel files.
- Providing clerical support and data entry for the Human Resources Department.
- Managing office correspondence and logistics for meetings and events.
- Supporting the development and implementation of new HR tools and processes.
- Building positive relationships with staff and management.
- Assisting with special projects as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- At least 3 years of experience in administrative roles, preferably within a Human Resources context.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Adaptability to new processes and systems.
- Excellent customer service skills and clear communication abilities.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Proactive problem-solving skills.
- Dependability and a strong attendance record.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience and education.
