Job Overview

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee a variety of process safety initiatives while ensuring adherence to project timelines and critical milestones.

  • Conduct comprehensive process hazard assessments, including PHA, HAZOP, and LOPA across diverse sectors.
  • Execute safety evaluations, risk assessments, process safety management audits, and facility siting evaluations specifically for oil and gas as well as petrochemical sectors.
  • Provide mentorship on industry standards, procedures, guidelines, and best practices related to process safety.
  • Develop and present consequence modeling tailored to client specifications.
  • Draft operational procedures as per client requirements.
  • Perform facility inspections and ensure that redlined P&IDs are accurately updated and forwarded for necessary revisions.
  • Interpret and modify P&IDs as necessary.
  • Lead and implement enhancement strategies in collaboration with the assigned team.
  • Be prepared to undertake additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

Exhibit strong interpersonal abilities, facilitating effective engagement with management, colleagues, and clients.

  • Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards, including PHA, HAZOP, and LOPA.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking capabilities, showcasing a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating PHAs, conducting incident investigations, and performing safety audits utilizing best practice techniques.
  • Proficient in English, both written and verbal, with the ability to interpret regulations from agencies such as EPA and OSHA and their relevance to site operations.
  • Applicants must possess legal authorization to work in the U.S. for any employer.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Fire Protection & Safety Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in leading PHAs, HAZOPs, and LOPAs within the oil and gas and petrochemical industries.
  • High proficiency in PHA Pro software or similar applications, along with Microsoft Office and Excel, and other risk assessment tools.
  • At least 15 years of experience fulfilling the responsibilities of a Process Safety Consultant.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
