JOB OVERVIEW

The selected candidate will engage in the interpretation of engineering schematics, develop programs for coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and conduct dimensional assessments utilizing CMM technology. Collaboration with various departments, including engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and product development, will be essential to identify root causes and implement corrective measures for product discrepancies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Utilize engineering drawings and specifications, adhering to geometric dimensioning and tolerancing standards. Execute both written and verbal directives while performing inspections with precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gauges, CMMs, and more.
  • Assess machined components for pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and other products against dimensional, visual, operational, and testing standards.
  • Review both purchased and manufactured materials for compliance with relevant drawings and quality specifications.
  • Create and execute CMM programs for initial, in-process, and final inspections, including specialized projects.
  • Document records of acceptance, rejection, and findings meticulously.
  • Analyze returned materials from customers or distributors to ascertain the root causes of nonconformities and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Operate both manual and automated CMMs effectively.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to design CMM inspection fixtures tailored for products.
  • Interpret work orders, engineering drawings, specifications, and routing sheets to verify adherence to standards and tolerances.
  • Adhere to all quality and safety protocols, including ISO 9001 standards.
  • Maintain CMM equipment, ensuring proper calibration, cleaning, and preventive maintenance.
  • Independently apply expertise to resolve issues, ensuring product quality.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting complex documents, including engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Capable of drafting documentation such as standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Experienced in using precision measurement tools, including micrometers, calipers, and CMMs.
  • Competent in programming and operating CMMs using PC-DMIS software.
  • Knowledgeable in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
  • Effective communicator, able to relay deviations from quality standards to relevant stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including SAP, PC-DMIS, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) certification is preferred.
  • PC-DMIS Level II certification is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This role requires regular walking, reaching, and communication. Frequent standing and handling of tools and equipment are necessary. Occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds may be required. Specific vision capabilities include close and distance vision, color perception, and depth perception.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Employees may work near moving mechanical parts, with a moderate noise level in the environment. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in designated areas.
