Position Overview: The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for executing product-specific testing procedures and quality equipment verifications during the blow molding and injection molding processes. This role ensures that all manufactured products comply with customer-specific product specifications. The Quality Assurance Specialist will assist in identifying any food safety or non-conformance issues while enforcing adherence to customer quality requirements by verifying that all internal and external quality standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all internal safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized workspace in our dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Conduct in-process inspections, measurements, and auxiliary equipment audits to ensure products are manufactured within customer specifications.
  • Verify that manufactured products are packaged and labeled correctly using appropriate materials and methods.
  • Utilize the RedZone system to document internal product defects and necessary corrective actions.
  • Record quality verification results in the RedZone system, highlighting any defects, non-conformances, or process deviations.
  • Ensure non-conforming products are physically and systemically held to prevent customer exposure to defects.
  • Participate in root-cause corrective action discussions, defect origin research, improvement implementations, and high-level reporting for external customer complaints.
  • Verify that molding machines and supporting equipment are cleaned and sanitized according to ISO22000, HACCP, and internal food safety cleanliness procedures before changeovers.
  • Support the organization and maintenance of high output performance during non-conforming product rework initiatives.
  • Update quality specification boards to display current products, specification sheets, past non-conformance information, and other visual aids.
  • Assist in new product qualifications and implementations by reviewing specifications and training floor members on quality requirements.
  • Operate and maintain quality-specific equipment such as weight scales, vision systems, date coders, and leak detectors.
  • Maintain professional communication at all levels of the operation and with internal and external customers.
  • Collaborate with operations leadership to establish best practices and quality procedures to minimize internal holds, external customer returns, and facility scrap loss.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational needs and contribute to overall process improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, Food Safety, and Food Quality regulations as required by the company and customers.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • At least one year of experience in a manufacturing environment with relevant quality control practices.
  • Ability to anticipate future non-conformance issues and respond with urgency to implement preventive measures.
  • High integrity and a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment, meeting deadlines and project commitments.
  • Skilled in risk assessment and decision-making to minimize customer exposure to product non-conformances.
  • Competent in basic math and measurement skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate touch-sensitive, automated technical equipment related to the Quality Assurance role.
  • Proficient in reading and writing in English to interpret specifications and instructions accurately.
  • Maintain a questioning mindset, actively listening and seeking opportunities for quality process improvements.
  • Familiarity with computer functions and Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, TEAMS, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Apple iPads and related programs is preferred.
