About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Technician I to join our team at Black Box, a leading technology solutions provider. As a Network Technician I, you will play a critical role in supporting our customers' communication system integration needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cable Patching and Installation: The patching cabling between network equipment and customer's network, ensuring seamless connectivity and data transmission.
  • Network Equipment Installation and Troubleshooting: Installing, troubleshooting, and de-installing network equipment, including devices such as phones, computers, cables, boards, edge routers, switches, and Network General remote Sniffers.
  • Move, Add, Change (MAC) Requests: Completing all hard and complex MAC requests within defined service levels, ensuring timely and efficient resolution of customer issues.
  • Customer Interface and Support: Acting as an interface between customer's associates and management, providing hardware break-fix services for network infrastructure, and performing onsite call-through, data, voice, website, and security testing.
  • Facilities Support: Assisting with facilities efforts, including power and uninterruptable power supply (UPS) restoration, water problems, emergency cooling restoration, fire suppression exercises, restoration, and post-fire events.
  • Inventory Management: Supporting inventory management activities, including receiving inventory, tagging of assets, tracking spares (crash kits), ordering inventory, updating inventory records, and preparing and returning damaged equipment.
Requirements
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in utilizing technical tools such as Sniffers, BERT testers, cable testers, and fiber testers.
  • Experience: 5 years of experience in data communications, with a basic knowledge of Cisco Phones, switches, and routers, and local and wide area networking.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
