Position Overview:

The Financial Accounting Associate is tasked with a variety of accounting responsibilities, including general ledger management, accounts payable processing, invoice handling, and financial reconciliations. This role embodies Civista Bank's commitment to enhancing the financial well-being of our employees and stakeholders, contributing positively to the communities we serve.

Core Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Efficiently create, review, and process accounts payable invoices on a regular basis.
  • Complete the processing and reporting of accounts payable transactions.
  • Conduct general ledger reconciliations and entries to maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
  • Execute tax reporting and verification tasks related to accounts payable activities.
  • Provide assistance to the Financial Operations team as required.
  • Maintain regular communication with internal departments to collect or clarify financial information and documentation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned that support the primary responsibilities.

Required Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • One to two years of experience in managing general ledger entries or performing reconciliations is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong data entry capabilities. Intermediate skills in spreadsheet management, including basic formulas, data filtering, and sorting are essential.
  • Prior experience with Jack Henry SilverLake is advantageous.
  • A high degree of initiative, thoroughness, accuracy, and organizational skills is necessary.
  • Attention to detail with robust analytical abilities is required.
  • A strong commitment to confidentiality is essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with varying deadlines is important.

Physical Demands:

  • The role may involve eye strain due to prolonged use of computer screens and reading reports.
  • The ability to concentrate on tasks amidst potential distractions is required.
  • The position may require lifting and moving files weighing up to 15 lbs.
  • Effective communication, both in person and over the phone, as well as the ability to write, speak, read, and hear, is necessary.
  • The role involves manipulating numbers, typing, and sitting for extended periods.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary for meetings and training.
