Position Overview:
The Chief Executive Officer will spearhead the strategic vision and operational execution of Americans for the Arts. This role encompasses fostering cultural inclusivity, driving fundraising initiatives, engaging with the community, and collaborating closely with the board, staff, and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
Artistic Leadership:
Collaborate with artistic teams to support their roles as creative leaders and facilitators of artistic endeavors.
In partnership with key stakeholders, develop and oversee national programs and initiatives that promote the arts.
Plan and coordinate events, including workshops and community outreach programs.
Administrative Oversight:
Support the Board of Directors by preparing necessary materials and participating in meetings.
Manage the annual budget and financial objectives of the organization.
Oversee contracts, invoices, and vendor relationships, ensuring smooth financial operations.
Staff Management:
Recruit and supervise both full-time and seasonal staff members.
Foster a positive workplace culture that prioritizes diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Conduct performance evaluations and facilitate team meetings and retreats.
Fundraising and Development:
Lead initiatives to secure funding and build relationships with donors.
Prepare grant proposals and other fundraising materials.
Organize and implement fundraising events to support the organization’s mission.
Facilities Management:
Oversee maintenance and improvements of organizational facilities.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in collaboration with facilities management.

Demonstrated experience in nonprofit arts leadership, with a focus on strategic planning, educational programming, and fundraising.
