This position is ideal for a Senior Accounting Manager with strong technical skills and a solid understanding of GAAP, looking to implement the New Revenue Recognition Standards for a Research Based organization in Washington DC.

The Senior Accounting Manager will interpret, present and explain complex accounting issues to management and external auditors. This is a Consulting Opportunity that should last anywhere from 5-8 months, and this position will report directly to our Corporate Controller.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure proper accounting for technical accounting areas such as stock-based compensation, goodwill, leases, loans, and debt-financing
  • Identify upcoming changes to US GAAP accounting standards that will be relevant to the client and lead the company in implementation of those standards
  • Interpret contracts and prepare technical memos addressing accounting conclusions
  • Participate in the implementation of ASC 606
  • Assist with financial audits including reconciliation, support documentation, and communication with external auditors
  • Assist with month end and year end close activities
  • Identify and implement process improvements
  • Interact with cross-functional teams, including Financial Planning and Analysis and Treasury

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting
  • CPA required (active or inactive status)
  • Advanced knowledge of US GAAP, particularly in ASC 840, ASC 350 & 360, FAS 91, 409A and ASC 606
  • 5 years technical accounting and audit based experience, including Big 4 public accounting
  • Strong experience in both private and public accounting
  • Strong analytical skills and a detail orientated personality
  • Ability to problem solve, work independently and multi-task in fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional project and time management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
