The Registered Respiratory Therapist III demonstrates advanced knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to patients in their department.

The RCP III is responsible for delivering care as needed and as outlined in the department's policies and procedures for critical care. Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing and documenting patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Conducting diagnostic procedures to evaluate the necessity for and response to respiratory therapy.
  • Administering respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Initiating, monitoring, and maintaining mechanical ventilation.

Qualifications include:

  • Graduation from an Accredited Respiratory Program.
  • Licensure by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners.
  • Registration by the National Board of Respiratory Care and the Neonatal Pediatric Specialty (NPS) credential.
  • A minimum of one year’s experience in an acute care facility or freestanding practice, with current/recent acute care Respiratory Therapist experience within the last six months.
  • Experience in Critical Care and Ventilator Management in Adult and Pediatric/Neonatal settings is required.
  • Preferred experience with ABGs, EKGs, ICU, preceptor experience, venous puncture, and line maintenance.
