Role Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Respiratory Therapist III exhibits advanced knowledge and skills essential for directing care tailored to patients in their department. The RCP III demonstrates an understanding of growth and development principles across the lifespan, assesses patient status, and interprets necessary information to identify each patient's needs relative to age-specific requirements in critical care settings. The RCP III delivers care as required and as outlined in departmental policies and procedures for critical care. If this aligns with your expertise, consider becoming part of our exceptional team.

  • Conduct and document patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. Perform diagnostic procedures to evaluate the necessity for and response to respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist with the placement of artificial airways.
  • Initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patients for therapeutic responses, notifying providers and intervening as necessary in the event of unintended responses.
  • Assist with the transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
  • Respond to emergent patient situations, ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.
  • Assess, plan, direct, and implement necessary activities to successfully treat patients.
  • Work within an intensive care environment.

Qualifications Required:

  • Graduate of an Accredited Respiratory Program.
  • Licensed by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners.
  • Nevada State license to perform arterial blood gases.
  • Registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care and the Neonatal Pediatric Specialty (NPS) credential.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Current ACLS certification required.
  • Current PALS certification required.
  • Current NRP certification required.
  • Minimum one year of experience in an acute care facility or freestanding practice, with recent acute care Respiratory Therapist experience within the last six months.
  • Experience in Critical Care and Ventilator Management in Adult and Pediatric/Neonatal settings preferred.
  • Preferred experience with ABGs, EKGs, ICU, preceptor experience, venous puncture, and line maintenance.
