Position Responsibilities

The Registered Respiratory Therapist III exhibits advanced knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to patients in their department. The RCP III understands the principles of growth and development across the lifespan, assesses patient status, and interprets the information needed to identify each patient's requirements concerning age-specific needs in critical care. The RCP III delivers care as needed and as outlined in the department's policies and procedures for critical care.   • Conduct and document patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. Perform diagnostic procedures to evaluate the necessity for and response to respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist with the placement of artificial airways.
  • Initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patients for therapeutic responses and notify providers, intervening as necessary in case of unintended responses.
  • Assist with the transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
  • Respond to emergent patient situations, ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.
  • Assess, plan, direct, and implement necessary activities to effectively treat patients.
  • Work in an intensive care setting.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an Accredited Respiratory Program.
  • Licensed by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners.
  • Nevada State license to perform arterial blood gases.
  • Registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care and holds the Neonatal Pediatric Specialty (NPS) credential.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Current ACLS certification required.
  • Current PALS certification required.
  • Current NRP certification required.
  • One year of experience in an acute care facility or freestanding practice is required, with current/recent acute care Respiratory Therapist experience within the last six months.
  • Critical Care and Ventilator Management experience in Adult and Pediatric/Neonatal settings is required.
  • Preferred experience with ABGs, EKGs, ICU, preceptor experience, venous puncture, and line maintenance.
