Tax Director

Maxar Technologies is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Tax to join our team in Westminster, CO.
Job Summary:The Director of Tax will be responsible for leading our tax function and ensuring compliance with all tax-related activities within the company. This includes meeting all income and operating tax compliance requirements at the federal, state, and local tax levels.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Manage and oversee the filing of regular tax returns, including income tax, GST, and other direct or indirect taxes.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to successfully meet income tax compliance requirements for quarterly estimates and annual income tax returns.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of developments to the management team, and create strategies to capitalize on changes to tax laws.
- Manage technology and processes to ensure efficient and effective data gathering for tax return purposes; develop new policies/procedures as needed for tax compliance.
- Manage income and other tax audits and inquiries by government authorities.
- Assist in identifying, analyzing, and implementing tax planning opportunities, including for M&A transactions and business initiatives.
- Foster a culture of tax compliance and awareness throughout the organization, providing training and support as needed.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident.
- Professional qualification of Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- Strong understanding of tax planning strategies and experience in managing indirect taxes, including Goods and Services Tax (GST).
- Minimum bachelor's degree in accounting or other finance field.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in tax roles.
- Previous experience as a Tax Director or experience in a similar role.
- Sufficient knowledge in tax accounting, tax compliance, and tax returns.
- Ability to work and meet required deadlines.
- Problem-solving mentality.
- Great communication skills with the ability to build and develop relationships.
- Exceptional leadership and management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP software.
- Experience in leading and managing a finance team.
