This role will collaborate with the Executive Director to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Foundation's operations as part of succession planning. The successful candidate will provide leadership in planning, developing, and implementing comprehensive fundraising programs, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding complex major gifts and relationships with major donors.
The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and skills related to working with donors regarding estate or legacy gifts and the legalities and appropriateness for donors to achieve their philanthropic aspirations. This may involve working with financial planners, estate attorneys, and accountants to design a philanthropic gift plan that provides tax benefits and fulfills the desires of the donor.
Key Responsibilities- Work closely with the Executive Director to develop a thorough understanding of all facets of the office of Institutional Advancement and the College Foundation.
- Maintain a portfolio of existing donors and grow this portfolio through increased donor engagement and expanded new prospect development.
- Assume responsibility for the advancement services area, including database management, audit, scholarship administration, and technology systems.
- Serve as staff lead on major and planned giving programs, including the Charitable Gift Annuities Program.
- Develop strategies and work with the Executive Director on matters related to strategies and implementation for Foundations.
- Provide support for all alumni and annual giving functions, including developing a personal portfolio of leadership annual givers.
- Oversee the implementation and strategic evaluation of the donor database, extrapolating donor data to include wealth screenings in plans for donor relationship building.
- Assist the Executive Director in developing budget and strategic fundraising goals, engaging in collaboration across all internal constituencies to gain a rich understanding of the decision-making process for funding requests.
- Participate on all Board Committees, lead the Planned Giving Advisory Council, and offer insights and recommendations related to the addition of new Board Members.
- Assist the Executive Director with the development of business-related policies and guidelines, and assist in implementing approved action items.
- Bachelor's degree and at least five years of relevant broad comprehensive experience, including stewardship, community engagement, and donor relations experience.
- Database experience in Raiser's Edge or comparable.
- Superior communications skills and high degree of initiative and creativity.
- Ability to interact effectively with Board members, CEOs, corporate officials, and volunteers, community members, and College staff.
- Knowledge of state, federal, and IRS laws and regulations related to giving and donations.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite/Teams.
- Available to work some evenings or weekends.
