Job Title: Event Manager

ThornCreek Winery is seeking a highly skilled and organized Event Manager to join our team. As an Event Manager, you will be responsible for planning and executing events that showcase our winery and gardens to our guests.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to guest requests in a friendly and timely manner, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Provide a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
  • Ensure the facility and gardens are cleaned and prepared for daily operation.
  • Work with the General Manager to improve operations, systems, and profits.
  • Check and respond to all winery messages via email and phone promptly on a daily basis.
  • Represent ThornCreek Winery as the face of the company at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws.
Day of Event Management:
  • Be on-site for all major events to oversee setup and ensure organization, event flow, and client relations are maintained.
  • Act as the closing manager for all events, managing the facility and ensuring cleanliness, event opening and closing checklists are completed.
  • Hold staff accountable to event opening and closing checklists to ensure facility preparedness, floor plan accuracy, and proper cleanliness.
  • Communicate with valet staff on client special requests, expected guest count, and event entrance.
  • Provide detailed information to the General Manager for grounds maintenance required for each event.
  • Ensure all beverage items are stocked and counted prior to event start.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings with staff to outline event details, timeline, expectations, and job duties.
  • Complete beverage requisition forms to accurately account for liquor, beer, and wine consumed during each event.
  • Ensure final billing is accurate and reviewed with the client at the conclusion of the event.
  • Receive and process final payment at the conclusion of each event.
  • Develop working relationships with preferred caterers and vendors to ensure smooth event execution.
  • Provide accurate financial information to the Business Manager and Bookkeeper each week for all events that occurred during the previous week of business.
Staff Training:
  • POS (Point of Sale) training.
  • ThornCreek Steps of Service training.
  • Wine Education training.
  • Daily opening and closing responsibilities.
  • Service expectations.
  • Overall company vision.
  • Create agendas and conduct monthly staff meetings in collaboration with the General Manager.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of two years of progressive food and beverage experience in both event management and restaurant operations.
  • Strong knowledge of food and wine.
  • Experience in both front and back of house environments preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • ServSafe certification preferred.
