Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician to join our team at Danbury Hospital. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to our patients and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Provide physical care to assigned patients, including assistance with daily living activities and technical skills such as point-of-care testing.
  • Implement nursing orders promptly and accurately, demonstrating a strong understanding of the purpose and application of each order.
  • Follow established policies and procedures for patient care activities, including the use of unit-specific equipment and supplies.
  • Provide patient comfort and safety through preventative measures, such as positioning, extra bathing, and ensuring patient safety through hourly rounding.
  • Enter all relevant data into the computer system and communicate patient and visitor information to the appropriate personnel.
  • Provide care that is appropriate to the age and needs of the patients served on the assigned unit, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles over the lifespan.
  • Report and record any changes observed in patient condition or behavior, and respond to priorities in the patient care process with good judgment and a focus on patient safety.
  • Use effective working relationships with all healthcare team members, patients, and significant others to maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
Requirements
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma and zero to six months of job-related experience.
  • Active CNA certification is preferred, but not required.
  • BLS/CPR certification is required within 90 days of start date or upon completion of orientation.
Work Environment

This position requires working in a fast-paced hospital environment with significant manual skills and motor coordination. The successful candidate will be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force and work in a setting with exposure to dirt, odor, noise, and human waste.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $19.00-$25.65 per hour. We offer a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
