Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician to join our team at Danbury Hospital. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to our patients and families.

Responsibilities
  • Provide physical care to assigned patients, including assistance with bathing, dressing, and mobility.
  • Implement nursing orders promptly and accurately, demonstrating a strong understanding of patient care principles.
  • Follow established policies and procedures for patient care activities, including unit-specific equipment and safety protocols.
  • Provide patient comfort and safety through preventative measures, such as side rails, restraints, and bed/chair exit alarms.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Enter accurate and timely data into the computer system, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Recognize and respond to priorities in the patient care process, exercising good judgment and effective time management.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work environment, adhering to infection control and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide comprehensive patient care, promoting a culture of excellence and patient-centered care.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; experience in a hospital environment preferred.
  • Active CNA certification preferred; BLS/CPR certification required within 90 days of start date.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient-centered care and teamwork.
