AHC SGMC Behavioral Health is seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Coordinator to join our Emergency Services Department. As a Behavioral Health Coordinator, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients in need.
Key Responsibilities:- Present clinical assessments to Psychiatrists in a concise, accurate manner, both verbally and in writing, to determine appropriate placement of patients.
- Collaborate with evaluating clinicians and referral sources to facilitate admissions to the behavioral health units.
- Provide clinical information to the charge nurse if the patient is admitted to the in-patient unit.
- Contact managed care representatives, third-party payers, primary physicians, or other relevant persons to provide clinical and/or demographic information required to verify insurance and/or obtain authorization for clinical services.
- Answer all incoming phone calls from persons and providers requesting acute clinical services for psychiatry to determine appropriate level of care and refer patients, as clinically indicated, to external services when a service is not provided within the array BH&WS programs.
- Schedule clinical evaluations in the Electronic Medical Record.
- Provide clinical triage services to the Emergency Department, Needs Assessment Center office, and other hospital departments where appropriate.
- Document all calls in the tracking log and documents disposition of patients on the department cover sheet.
- Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, or other related field.
- Minimum of 1-2 years in Mental Health field.
- Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
PRN Availability to cover shifts during call outs or planned PTO. 8 or 12 hr shifts during weekdays (7:00am-5:30pm or 12pm-8:30pm). 12 hr shifts during weekend (7am-7:30pm).
