Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Staff Pharmacist to join our team at Shady Grove Medical Center. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will be responsible for preparing and dispensing medications, utilizing pharmacy support personnel, and providing in-service education to physicians, nurses, and other practitioners.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in pharmacy practice, with a focus on clinical skills and patient care. You will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective medication delivery to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and dispense medications in a timely and accurate manner
  • Utilize pharmacy support personnel to optimize workflow and patient care
  • Provide in-service education to physicians, nurses, and other practitioners on medication use and management
  • Perform pharmacy functions to ensure safe and effective medication delivery to the Nursing Department
  • Design, recommend, monitor, and evaluate patient-specific pharmacotherapy
  • Help assure adherence to medication-use policies and procedures
  • Participate in the formulary process to ensure optimal medication use
  • Comply with all accreditations, regulatory, and safety requirements
  • Maximize work efficiency with the use of technology
  • Respond to requests for drug information and provide expert advice
  • Ensure continuity of pharmaceutical care and participate in departmental performance improvement programs
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA guidelines
  • Participate in the process for assessing, managing, and reporting medication errors
  • Manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an ACPE-accredited pharmacy school with a PharmD degree or a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy with acute hospital/clinical experience
  • Minimum one year of hospital pharmacy practice experience
  • Recent graduates with a minimum of two years of hospital pharmacy technician/intern experience or non-hospital pharmacist experience with counseling and medication therapy management
  • Supervisory/management experience is not required but welcome
  • Strongly preferred: experience responding to Code Blue calls, ACLS certification/training, performing clinical skills such as medication dosing, renal dosing adjustment, antimicrobial stewardship, and anticoagulant dosing
  • Strongly preferred: specific experience with NICU, Emergency Department, Critical Care/ICU, interpersonal skills and comfort with communications with nurses and physicians, knowledge and experience with IV compounding (USP 797 & 800), automation (Pyxis, carousel, etc.), and experience supervising pharmacy technicians

Work Schedule:

Clinical staff pharmacist in central and decentralized clinical areas. Full-time/Days/Evenings/Occasional Nights. Weekend coverage is rotating every third weekend.

Pay Range:

$69.27

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount or if the position is Per Diem (offering a fixed rate), salary discussions will occur during the screening process.
