About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant II to join our team at Indiana University Health. As a Medical Assistant II, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our clinical teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Under the supervision of a designated supervisor and assigned physician, you will perform duties associated with direct patient care and clinical direction.
  • You will ensure the completeness of ordered procedures and treatments, and assure smooth patient flow.
  • You will perform general lab work, instruct patients concerning procedures, treatments, and needs, and ensure medical orders and referrals are carried out accurately and in a timely manner.
  • You will perform registration and scheduling activities per organizational and departmental procedures.
  • You will maintain EMR files and perform general front office functions as needed.
  • You may perform computerized physician order entry, only if directed by assigned physician.
  • You will precept current MA team members or MA Externs as requested by leadership.
Requirements
  • AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required. Graduation from a Medical Assistant program is preferred.
  • Current certification in medical assisting is required from a recognized organization.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA is required.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding is required.
  • TB validation (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use, and Standard Work Programs and concepts within 6 months of hire is required.
  • Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures is required.
  • Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers is required.
  • Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care, and Skills Competency checklists is required.
  • Basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills are required.
