KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Field Service Technician, you will be instrumental in assisting customers with the products manufactured and distributed by Muncie Power. Your role will involve providing on-site technical support and expertise to both Muncie Power staff and product users, whether through direct interaction or hands-on assistance. Additionally, you will offer training and troubleshooting guidance to end users of our products.
- Utilize your technical and mechanical skills to diagnose and repair Muncie Power's core line products and associated components, focusing primarily on power take-offs, hydraulic pumps, valves, and cylinders, as well as hoses and fittings.
- Assist in the evaluation and testing of hydraulic systems.
- Collaborate across departments to deliver on-site technical assistance.
- Oversee the installation of Muncie Power's core line products, support hydraulic system testing, make necessary adjustments, and resolve product issues for both current and prospective customers.
- Provide technical support to the outside sales team as needed.
- Deliver training to customers and end users regarding the correct installation and operation of Muncie Power products.
- Participate in product testing and validation as required.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of field service activities and log calls into the service tracking system.
- Support the warranty team with product analysis and contribute insights into potential product failure modes.
- Communicate recurring product issues to the engineering team and suppliers as necessary.
- Upload software updates to electro-hydraulic controllers as needed.
- Travel as necessary; anticipate approximately 30% office work and 70% travel.
- Assist product application specialists with troubleshooting inquiries while in the office.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
- Preferred experience in technical, mechanical, and hydraulic fields.
- Applicable technical degree is preferred.
- IFPS Hydraulic Specialist/Technician/Mechanic Certification is preferred.
- Familiarity with fluid power principles is essential.
- Knowledge of electro-hydraulic systems and related components is beneficial.
- Ability to service hydraulic equipment and components is required.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical documentation, diagrams, and schematics.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy.
- Experience with test instrumentation (data acquisition, multimeters, oscilloscopes, flow meters, vacuum gauges, etc.) is advantageous.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel are necessary.
- Familiarity with 2D CAD/3D modeling software is preferred.
- Ability to follow safety rules, maintenance instructions, and service manuals.
- Capability to write field service reports effectively.
- Ability to communicate effectively with groups of customers or employees.
- Ability to interpret various instructions provided in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is based in a manufacturing and warehouse setting, and the work schedule is Monday through Friday, on-site.
