Actively participates as a member of the AltaPointe Health treatment team focused on First Episode Psychosis
Builds rapport with clients to foster trusting, collaborative relationships aimed at achieving educational objectives or obtaining employment in community settings alongside non-disabled peers
Continuously evaluates clients' educational and vocational capabilities using comprehensive background assessments
Offers psychoeducational support to family members
Facilitates supported education for individuals interested in furthering their educational pursuits to enhance employment opportunities
Engages in job development and search initiatives tailored to the unique interests and needs of participants
Provides guidance and assistance to employers, as agreed upon with clients, which may involve negotiating job accommodations and maintaining follow-up communication with employers.
Participates in weekly meetings with the mental health treatment team and maintains individual communication with team members to ensure the integration of educational and vocational services into mental health care
Creates and updates individualized education and employment plans in collaboration with clients and treatment team members on a quarterly basis.
Develops education and job support strategies with client input, incorporating feedback from family members and insights from past educational and employment experiences.
Spends a significant portion of work hours (65% or more) in community settings, such as meeting clients at various locations or assisting them in job applications and educational inquiries.Supervision and Consultation:
Seeks guidance and consultation as necessary
Welcomes and implements suggestions for professional growth
Actively works to enhance case management competencies
Record Keeping:
Maintains confidential records for each supported employment client
Ensures accurate documentation for individuals receiving services
Submits timely documentation that complies with the requirements of various funding sources, including Vocational Rehabilitation and Medicaid
Professional Conduct:
Treats clients with respect, dignity, and compassion
Safeguards client privacy and confidentiality
Maintains a pleasant and cooperative demeanor with colleagues and clients
Provides assistance to clients and visitors as needed
Demonstrates personal values that support the ability to relate to and care for others
Exhibits sensitivity to clients' needs, expectations, and individual differences
Approaches clients and families with gentleness and calmness
Administrative Duties:
Actively engages in Performance Improvement initiatives
Participates in AltaPointe committees as required
Completes assigned tasks promptly
Adheres to AltaPointe policies and procedures
Attends mandatory meetings, training sessions, and workshops
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a mental health-related field, successful completion of an ADMH-approved case management training program, and an ADMH-approved Supported Employment Specialist training program.
Knowledge of youth and young adult specialties, to be acquired within six months of employment:
Understanding of psychiatric disorders affecting youth and young adults
Awareness of cultural diversity
Familiarity with behavior management, crisis intervention, and techniques relevant to acute psychotic individuals, as well as non-violent crisis intervention practices
Comprehension of psychiatric rehabilitation principles
Knowledge of community employment resources
Understanding of educational methods suitable for youth and young adults with psychiatric disorders
Experience in providing employment services and familiarity with the job market are preferred. The ability to function effectively as a team player is essential. Must be at least 23 years old, possess a valid Alabama driver’s license, and have proof of current liability insurance.
