Commercial Insurance Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Commercial Insurance Specialist to join our team at Tompkins Community Bank. The successful candidate will be responsible for obtaining, developing, expanding, and servicing commercial lines accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Exceed customer expectations by performing a variety of duties to meet their insurance service needs.
- Sell new and renewal accounts in line with agency and individual goals.
- Rewrite existing book of business to meet or exceed agency retention goals and create cross-sell opportunities for current insureds.
- Identify referral opportunities for our affiliates and provide field services in support of sales duties.
- Facilitate and manage individual claims as appropriate.
- Develop prospects through an organized direct solicitation program, referrals from present accounts, affiliates, and other contacts.
- Develop all information and recommendations for prospective accounts, present proposals, and adhere to agency policies and procedures for writing new accounts.
- Conduct quoting processes in association with agency-defined policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Identify account rounding/up-selling opportunities and process accordingly.
- Maintain a concern for timeliness and completeness when interacting with clients, agency, and company personnel to minimize potential E&O claims.
- Perform special projects at management's request.
- Provide guidance to clients and assist in the facilitation of the claims process.
Ancillary Duties
- Join local community organizations and attend community events after work as a means of marketing the Agency in the community.
- Actively participate in the community in a manner that reflects favorably on the Agency.
- Develop a presence in the community by networking with local leaders and the business community.
- Abide by current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed to promote an environment that is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace.
- Cooperate with, participate in, and support the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of compliance and procedures, including all regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum two years in a similar position is desirable and must be licensed per state of NY/PA requirements.
- Proficient in demonstrated effective presentation skills through both verbal and written communications.
- Working knowledge of commercial line account policies and procedures; moderate computer skills, including knowledge of online data systems; and a valid and acceptable driver's license.
- Must be assertive and a self-starter with the ability to influence others.
