Job Overview

Metrology Group Function:
The Metrology team is tasked with the upkeep of calibration Standards utilized throughout the organization to assess and calibrate both laboratory and manufacturing apparatus.

These Standards must ensure the requisite accuracy and traceability to guarantee the dependability of measurements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee service operations related to the calibration, maintenance, and repair of Calibration Standards.
  • Conduct entry-level maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repairs on Calibration Standards to ensure measurement precision and appropriate traceability to international standards.
  • Engage with clients, including scientists, engineers, and production personnel, to retrieve instruments requiring service and gather technical information.
  • Handle shipping and receiving tasks for external vendors concerning instrumentation equipment and Standards needing calibration or repair.
  • Review and process calibration and repair documentation from external vendors according to established protocols.
  • Collaborate with external calibration vendors and procurement to create and manage purchase orders.
  • Monitor blanket purchase order expenditures and request additional funding as necessary.
  • Check stock levels of consumable Standards and place orders accordingly.
  • Verify inventory levels of calibration stickers and order as needed.
  • Assist in identifying and procuring Metrology-approved equipment.
  • Participate in cGMP, safety, and technical training as mandated by the department.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  • Ability to organize and complete all assigned tasks within the scheduled timeframe.
  • Understanding of fundamental electrical, electronic, mechanical, and/or calibration principles.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers; experience with SAP is advantageous.
  • Capability to build and repair equipment.
  • Attention to detail is essential.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • General knowledge of cGMP and GLP practices.
  • Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
Education and Experience:
  • Completion of a 2-year Instrumentation or Electronics curriculum at a technical institution, or an AA/AS Degree in a related scientific or engineering discipline, complemented by substantial relevant on-the-job training. Related military training may be considered in lieu of an AA/AS degree.
  • 2-4 years of progressive experience as a Field, Calibration, or Instrumentation Technician.

This position offers a competitive pay range of $35.00/hour to $43.00/hour.
