Position: Calibration Specialist
Location: South San Francisco, CA (ONSITE)
Contract Duration: 3+ months
Compensation: $35-41/hr on W2
Role Summary:
The Calibration team is tasked with upholding the calibration Standards utilized throughout the Client Site for testing and calibrating both laboratory and manufacturing apparatus. These Standards must ensure the necessary accuracy and traceability to guarantee reliable measurements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee service operations related to the calibration, upkeep, and repair of Calibration Standards and Instruments.
- Conduct entry-level maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repairs on Calibration Standards to maintain measurement precision and proper traceability to international benchmarks.
- Engage with clients, including scientists, engineers, and production personnel, to retrieve Instruments requiring service and gather technical data.
- Handle shipping and receiving of instrumentation equipment and Standards needing calibration and/or repair from external vendors.
- Review and process calibration and repair documentation from external vendors in accordance with established protocols.
- Collaborate with external calibration vendors and procurement to generate and manage purchase orders (POs).
- Monitor blanket PO expenditures and request additional funding when necessary.
- Check stock levels of consumable Standards and place orders as needed.
- Verify stock levels of calibration labels and order as required.
- Assist in identifying and procuring Metrology-approved equipment Standards.
- Participate in cGMP, safety, and technical training as mandated by departmental policies.
Qualifications:
- Ability to organize and complete all assigned tasks by the scheduled due date.
- Understanding of fundamental electrical, electronic, mechanical, and/or calibration principles.
- Proficient in using personal computers; experience with SAP is advantageous.
- Capability to construct and repair equipment.
- Attention to detail is essential.
- Customer service orientation is required.
- General knowledge of cGMP and GLP practices.
- Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
Education and Experience:
- Completion of a 2-year Instrumentation or Electronics curriculum at a technical institution, or an AA/AS Degree in a related science or engineering field, including substantial relevant on-the-job training. Related military training may substitute for the AA/AS degree.
- 2-4 years of progressive experience as a Field, Calibration, or Instrumentation Technician.
