Job Overview

The Field Engineer will play a crucial role in providing technical and field assistance to project management and supervisory personnel, ensuring that construction activities are executed efficiently, adhere to timelines, and comply with company policies and engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Uphold personal safety and the safety of colleagues by adhering to company health and safety protocols.

2. Assist in construction layout, procurement of materials and equipment, review of submittals, scheduling of manpower, quantity takeoffs, document control, and inventory management.

3. Conduct ongoing field inspections and quality assessments to ensure that all completed work aligns with relevant plans, permits, codes, and specifications.

4. Prepare and distribute essential documentation, including materials and equipment submittals, status reports, and calculations of material requirements.

5. Create drawings and sketches to support construction efforts, including temporary works and change orders.

6. Facilitate the submission of work method statements and ensure all necessary approvals and permits are secured before work begins.

7. Provide on-site support to supervisors and craft labor to ensure safe and efficient execution of construction tasks.

8. Investigate and propose solutions to issues related to drawing interpretations, conflicts, and errors, and manage Requests for Information (RFIs) through to resolution.

9. Establish necessary control lines and elevations for accurate measurements and proper installation of materials.

10. Review incoming correspondence, process subcontractor pay applications, analyze project schedules, and produce regular construction progress reports.

11. Assist in the evaluation of contractor claims, prepare change orders, and maintain records related to claims and change orders.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering, or a related field; equivalent construction experience may also be considered.

- 0-5 years of relevant experience in construction, design, or field support.

- Familiarity with construction equipment, techniques, drawings, specifications, and applicable standards.

- Strong communication skills and ability to manage interfaces effectively.

- Experience with project management software such as CMiC, P6, Bluebeam, CAD, Expedition, or SharePoint is preferred.

Preferred Experience

- Previous field experience on construction projects.

- Onsite experience with a self-performing contractor on projects exceeding $10M is advantageous.

- Prior surveying experience is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated salary range for this position is $80,000 - $95,000 per year, depending on experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
